Wolf Knowledge - Preemptive Defense
Even the meek will sometimes put up a struggle if attacked; some people do have the remnant of a survival instinct. There are several concepts regarding the meaning of self-defense and when it is “appropriate” – as if someone else has any right to tell you when it’s appropriate to defend yourself. These definitions usually include that if you’re attacked, then you can defend yourself and you should only use the amount of force that is being used against you. I’ve mentioned this in the past, if you use more force to stop an attack than what is being inflicted on you, it’s called “disparity of force” and supposedly means that you’re no longer the defender. Of course, the threats know that you obey the rules, will avoid conflict and only, hesitatingly proceed with a token defense after you are already beaten.
Make sure the threats are wrong. If you don’t already know, you should be thinking about what rules you have to follow. None. It is not logical to wait until you are attacked to then attempt a defense. In the instant that you realize you are the target, attack. Hesitation will get you dead. And the disparity of force should be on your side. You want to be the attacker and you want complete and overwhelming force on your side. The intent is to make the threats very sorry that they ever even thought of bothering you. Those that survive may run away. If not, take care of them, too. This is not the time for mercy. The threats attempted to harm you and you are returning the favor with a multiplier. Rather than allow an escalation of force during the fight, just start at whatever your top level happens to be and win the fight.
If you’re in good shape and have some training and some drunk takes a swing at you, this may not even be a fight. If your instincts say it is, then break his nose, his arm and whatever else you want to do. If you’re approached by three people, one shows a knife and demands your money, would you give your money to these scum? I wouldn’t. I’d suggest just moving and then shoot all three of them a lot of times. That does require having a gun and knowing not only how to use it but having the absolute conviction that you won’t hesitate to use it.
As I have said before, if you’re working on this ‘be a wolf’ idea, you’ll find that just before you decide to attack the threats, they will very often back down. The mindset you carry, the self-confidence you have, the weapons you have available at your disposal and most importantly, your willingness to use them instantly if needed, all these traits do project out toward those who would attempt to harm you. They may have thought you were a sheep initially, but as soon as it becomes clear that you are far from that, the threats will find themselves in a suddenly bad position; the threats will be facing a mean and ugly wolf who can and will kill them. If the threats mouth a bunch of insults but are backing away, then let them go. You won the fight and saved some ammunition.
