The H1N1 "Swine Flu"
While this topic is a current event, I considered it as part of basic threat management, not because this is a way to avoid getting sick, but because it addresses just how much the government and media will do to push this issue beyond any possible real outcome and into some kind of emergency – panic – situation. All I am hearing is the government is feverishly working to have the capability to protect all of us peasants from the upcoming evil virus that will destroy civilization (yet it sounds like the vaccine is something we all must have).
Or what? Some of us will die, just as in any other flu season? I regularly see a lot of doctors. None are telling me that this is an upcoming catastrophe for humanity. The media appears to be reporting another story from some other doctors. Maybe the government is also listening to those doctors. Various bills have been introduced in state and federal legislatures addressing this upcoming plague. These documents all seem to follow the same ideas, that those in power must be allowed to take over those without power for their own good, health and safety. The particulars vary but there really are few (if any) limits to just what will happen, again for our own good. I think if a lot of people get sick, I can rather easily figure out what to do for my own good without any kind of official intervention.
One bill purports to demand that people are vaccinated by force if necessary. Interesting. Who exactly thinks that they can force me to do anything? It may end up with a dead me or some dead “vaccinators,” but I won’t have been vaccinated. Something like that is my choice alone. With the spectacular medical care and medical professionals in this country (private, by the way, not yet government-run), I would much rather put my trust in those professionals than someone from the government who supposedly knows what is best for me because they have some cloak of authority that I don’t recognize.
Gather some facts – that means information from real sources, not media sources, not government sources – and make your own decisions based on those facts and what your own doctor thinks. Given the government’s abysmal history of successfully managing anything, I do not intend for them to dictate what I should be doing regarding some virus that they seem to know more about than all the rest of us put together. As always, you do have free will. You make your own choices for you. No one can force you to do anything.
