Personal Update April 6, 2010

For those few of you who read these posts, this one ain't about threat management. I am using this space to send out an update to the few friends I have right now. So, nothing here about gunfighting or killing bad guys.

I have been through a lot of life changes in the past few months. Just now getting along well (I think) with my soon to be ex-wife. We are trying to figure out a way where she can stay in "our" big house. Unfortunately, there's no way at the moment I can help her with any cash, but who knows what the future will bring. Meanwhile, if she wants to continue making the payments on our joint credit, I am fine with that. And, I'll agree to give her all the equity in the house - it will be hers alone regardless of whether she sells or keeps it. In return, she's agreed to give me the 1992 Harley-Davidson that we own. She gets the 2002 Harley, and she's wanting to put a trike kit on it. She will look great riding that!

I have been staying in Winchester67's spare house (the name is from
Warrior Talk where he is a member - and he's my best friend by a wide margin). For a "little" guy, I would never ever want to get in a gunfight or any other fight with him. He's the one who will just watch your back even when you're not expecting anybody to watch it. Good people. He took care of me during the toughest weekend of my life. I can never repay him for what he has done for me. And, he needs his house sold. So, since I am hyperextended on credit and can't buy another house, if anybody needs a fantastic house with 1300 square feet finished on the first floor, a full basement on 2.5 acres in the woods, and I do mean in the woods... no grass, just trees, big oaks.. built about 10 years ago, stupid lots of insulation, 6" walls, two finished bedrooms two baths, a third unfinished bed and bath downstairs (well, a bit finished - I am staying in the downstairs bedroom right now), paved road except for the driveway which is a couple hundred yards at most, incredible garage that must be 25++ feet deep, two vehicles wide but so deep that a mustang and a jeep will fit end to end in one space, shooting off the back deck is fine, whirlpool tub in the master bath, etc. etc. just email me at the link bottom left. It's in nowhere Missouri but 20 minutes to the home of the University of Missouri - Columbia. How about $145,000 for this? Well below appraisal - though I do know that appraisals don't mean much in today's Obamamarket. House sounds like a winner to me, if I had any money.... but I don't so hopefully one of you out there will grab it and not kick me out too soon.

I am tentatively planning on moving to Boonville, MO in June. I'll spend a year there and then I have been invited to Colombia (SA), Iraq and China. I didn't realize that just five classes with the SI guys would open up so many doors. Just glad it has, as that gives me a lot of choices in  2011.

And, some random bits of stuff: did you know that when somebody files an order of protection against you, even though it has not been ruled on by a judge, the FBI will find out and scrap any chance of passing a NICS check? I didn't either. And even after the order was dismissed (thanks, ex-wife to be, I do appreciate you doing that), the FBI will NOT run your record again. You have to submit enough paperwork to show that it's dismissed, even though a current NICS check comes up clean. It's their "policy" not to rerun the check, they tell me. So..... months of paperwork via snail mail. In the interim, of course my CCW came up for renewal and I am living in a new county - which is now time to put in a huge endorsement of the Howard County MO Sheriff, Charlie Polson. He took my papers from the court and the lawyer, spent over an hour on the phone to make sure my record shows up clean and renewed my concealed carry permit. While he and I have mutual friends, I had never met him until the day I showed up at his office. I was impressed. That's some way over the top service.
After all the FBI stuff, my plan is to buy no more firearms ever. I have my 1911 and an AK-47 and a riot gun. Might get a few more once the divorce is settled. Not going to get back into reloading either, unless I get the Sharps rifle that the owner of the company I work for gave me. And, would like to play with muzzleloaders again, too, so if I get the TC Hawken that I built from a kit, I'll be happy.
As far as physical, went from 189 pounds and a 36" waist to 149 pounds and a 30" waist. Getting back surgery in a few weeks, can't recall the official name but it's microdissection something where the surgeon cuts out a part of the L5 disc to relieve pressure on nerves. My right leg doesn't work and my left leg isn't doing well. At least I have great doctors and this is happening before Obamacare gets here. At that time, I'd think nobody would do anything.
I am in this little hole of a basement bedroom with a great little dog, born 12/12/2009, a Boston Terrier. He's my buddy. He's also snoring and farting up a storm right now and I love him to death. Named him after my first Boston Terrier, thought that enough time has passed where I could use the name again since I am starting over my life — Barney.
"I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls." Job 30.29. And, I have the tattoo to prove it.
May God bless you all.
The Reverend (yes, it's true, but that's another story) David III
